POST 09 Takeaways from Zander's Lecture

It was an energetic talk, and thank you Zander for sharing lots of professional knowledge and working process. Some main takeaways for VR beginner from this guest lecture are below:

Avoid Motion Sickness

  • Camera angle should set to 120 degree

  • Using teleportation instead of allowing free movement

  • Player can be set static as well (the VR experience can still be great)

Technical Rabbit Hole

  • Not seeing their own body, but hands are ok

Lighting

  • We can adjust the lighting in unity such as turning off some items' shadow (contrast to the reality) to create a visually better experience

Feedbacks for My Final Project

  • Should connect the interactions with the concept more, such as emphasizing the bread theme using more related game objects

  • Job simulation can be a great direction for a baking themed game
