In week 10, we have Lean and Indira come and share they work in VR. I personally had lots of thoughts on the VR application in future journalism.
Leah showed us a VR new report, which is 360 degree, where audience can interact with the witnesses in this news event to learn the "first-hand" information directly. I think this definitely creates a realistic feeling and immersive experience for news readers, by allowing them travel back in time and seek for information at their own pace. In other words, people can have the agency of building their version of story depends on the way they interact in the VR world. This can make the whole storytelling more trust-worthy. However, I am also skeptical about using VR video in journalism, because readers may ignore the fact that the VR world itself is also a "second-hand" source.
