Macro Project Phase 2.0

1.0 10 Weeks Count-Down

2.0 Target Audience

I imagine the target audience will be an exhibition/museum/institution visitor, who is looking for alternative way of learning bread fermentation from a yeast's perspective. Although it will be an escape-the-room game, the puzzles will be relatively easy.

The goal is to let player finish the game and immerse into this fantasy for around 10 mins. Meanwhile, some professional knowledge will be required to solve the puzzles, so the target age group may be 10+.

3.0 On-site Conditions

A private space with no one else around will be preferred, because the nature and also the fun of escape-the-room game is to solve puzzles alone or with team, but not random audience. Besides, this game also tell the story of a yeast starting from "my" memory and the gameplay process is all about "my" interaction with the world.

The other goal of this game is not to educate players about the biological/chemical knowledge about fermentation, but invoke empathy which allows players to reflect on the daily bread that we are eating and start seeing yeast as a serious form of life, just like us human. Of course, this process can be fun and doesn't have to be "serious".

(Physical installation will be great (odor and tactile), but additional at this point.)

4.0 physical world mapping

I roughly pointed out the essential items I will put into my scenes during this practice, though it is not accurate. I found it helpful for me to navigate the connection between different rooms, and look at the whole map from a distance. At first, I was afraid that I might have too many items in a room, but we as audience can take-in more information at a glance than I thought!
